In a very short time, Expromo has developed into a well-known provider of LED display solutions worldwide.Last but not least, current projects prompted our author Achim Hannemann to present the company in more detail.Content of this company portrait: AdvertisementBefore we go into more detail about Expromo, we must first take a look at ProShop Europe A/S.The company is known as an international full-service provider of AV solutions for trade fairs, events and permanent installations.Founded in 1999 in Aarhus, Denmark, the company is growing steadily and is now represented in seven countries in Europe, the Middle East and Asia. From the year 2000, the LED display market started to grow worldwide, and the company started to search for its own LED production facility.Jens U. Carstensen, CEO of Expromo and ProShop Europe, describes how Expromo finally came about: “In 2003, CTO Expromo Søren and I were flying back from a failed mission to buy a factory.Over a gin and tonic, we came up with the idea of creating our own brand instead, but had no idea what the brand should be called. For some reason, an English-Latin dictionary was on board, and flipping through all the possible words, we put together Expromo, which, with a little goodwill, means display. That was the birth of Expromo.” Søren Holmriis adds: “It turned out to be our advantage because as brand owners we can choose our production partners and are so flexible and fast, also in terms of new ideas and products.”>> back to overviewExpromo Europe A/S was founded in 2003 as a subsidiary of ProShop Europe A/S and specialized in professional LED and SMD display solutions in Aarhus. The company particularly emphasizes its customer proximity and for this reason has also set up branches in Copenhagen, Hamburg and Stuttgart (Expromo Deutschland GmbH in Backnang).Expromo also has its own division in Shenzhen, China, where the LED modules are developed and manufactured.Based on the experience of Proshop and Expromo with regard to customer wishes and requirements in the European market, you can influence development, production and certification as well as quality assurance directly in the factory and also provide support there. In the meantime, the company is proud of around 2,000 LED installations and an extensive product portfolio consisting of LED displays for indoor and outdoor applications as fixed installation or rental versions. They are used in meeting or control rooms, concert, theater or event locations, in digital signage, DOOH or on cruise ships.LED models for meeting rooms, LED scoreboards, LED video cubes, architectural LED installations and boards for the sports sector as well as individual custom-made LED screens are offered, even beyond the 16:9 format.Expromo responds to the constantly changing market with its own development, software and creative departments and can also offer suitable solutions for almost all tasks through individual concepts, production and OEM products.A team of experienced specialists accompanies the customer, system integrator, dealer or planner, if desired, throughout the entire project. For example, when creating the needs analysis, support for the necessary permits, creating the statics, carrying out the assembly, installation, carrying out the interface coordination, carrying out the project management and last but not least the production of the content.Manufactured and installed in strict compliance with EU standards;the company has all current, EU-compliant certificates.Expromo has its own construction department in order to plan the necessary substructure, which is often specially tailored to the installation site, to manufacture it with partners and thus to supply the customer as a full-service provider with a complete solution. Thanks to our own service staff, technicians and a 24/7 hotline, contact persons are available to the customer even after the project has been completed.According to Senior Business Development/Sales Manager Michael Reichart, another sales strategy has been pursued since 2019.Expromo wants to focus even more on developing and manufacturing its own product line.A network has already been established in the DACH region, consisting of dealers, system integrators and advertising technology companies. This process is to be continued continuously in the coming years. In addition, the Expromo team supports its partners in projects with a wide range of training courses. On the subject of sustainability, the company has presented a comprehensive concept under the slogan "EXPROMO GOES GREEN 2020".In addition to the 98% recyclability of the products, the first solar-powered LED screen was also presented. In addition, Expromo is WEEE-authorized, which is intended to ensure the responsibility of the manufacturer for the management and recycling of electronic waste.>> back to overviewExpromo attracted attention at ISE 2020 with an ultra-bright fine pixel pitch indoor display. The company was the first European display supplier to present a 1.5 mm fine pixel pitch LED module with 4,000 nit.The Expromo was made possible by what is known as flip-chip technology combined with common-on-cathode technology.Flip-chip technology has long been known from lighting and smartphone technology. However, the development department managed to apply this production process, combined with the common-on-cathode technology, to their full-color SMD display modules. The high-power SMDs can be packed more densely and also bring a significantly higher light output with the same current without reducing the service life. They offer better efficiency and therefore lower power consumption than chips from other suppliers that have been installed up to now.Other unique selling points are better heat dissipation, higher ESD stability and mechanical robustness. This makes it possible to produce fine pixel pitch displays with a brightness of up to 5,000 nit with almost double the contrast ratio.Conventional modules with a pixel pitch of less than 3 mm can usually only have a brightness of up to 1,000 nit. With the takeover of the German LED manufacturer Leurocom, the patents for the LED strips were also secured. The further development of this product line is currently offered under the name Mediastripe as a transparent illumination or advertising poster solution for installation on house or window facades with pixel pitches of 25, 31.25 and 42.5 mm with IP 66 protection class. For applications in conference rooms, lobbies or broadcast studios, the all-in-one product line "eXview Plus" will be presented to the general public for the first time at the ISE 2022 in Barcelona. This further development of the already existing eXview series builds on the Conference series, which ensures an ultra-thin construction with a depth of only 38.5 mm.It consists of LED displays in the dimensions 120", 138", 150", 165", 180" and 220" with different pixel pitch resolutions from 1.2 mm to 2.08 mm and can be mounted on the wall as well as can also be mounted mobile on castors. The product is a plug & play solution and can also be connected wirelessly to computers or mobile devices via Airplay.Optionally, the display can be integrated into the media technology infrastructure using a Novastar controller and can therefore also be operated via the usual media controls. The substructure can also be individually adapted to the local conditions and the customer can be supported in the project phase.>> back to overviewIn the following, some realized projects with Expromo LED solutions are presented:The Lanxess Arena in Cologne, for example, has a central video display and LED banner from Expromo.Probably unique, at least in terms of length, is the 360° "Fascia Board", installed along the top tier above the VIP lounges.304.7 running meters contain 318 LED cabinets with 6 mm pixel pitch and a total resolution of 50,784 × 128 pixels. With a maximum brightness of 2,000 cd/m², advertising messages, logos and sponsor news can be presented on 234 m² even when the hall is brightly lit.A special feature is the new display area in the middle of the arena, which is suspended from the dome roof. Here, four individual, vertically movable "Expromo Flying Displays" with dimensions of 8 m × 4.5 m replace the former video cube, which weighed 16 tons. Each LED screen, which now weighs only 1 ton, has a resolution of 1,344 × 756 pixels and a brightness of 2,000 cd/m².With this flexible construction you are prepared for different types of events. The cube version for sporting events or the single display version for company events can be selected via the synchronized chain hoists. The two three-dimensional LED exterior facades in Hamburg's Quarree Wandsbek shopping center are unique in Germany in terms of their size and resolution. The screens can be used by the shopping center operator for specific promotional campaigns.pilot Screentime implemented and managed the project as general contractor, the hardware comes from Expromo. The three-sided screen on the left side of the facade, the so-called cube, has a total area of 27 m².On the right-hand side, the tower rises up with a total of 177 m² of LED surfaces. All three sides of the screen can be used for media - thanks to the special technology, the surfaces appear as a solid unit despite the right-angled outer edges. This gives the viewer the impression that the area, which can be seen from afar from all three sides, grows directly out of the building. The picture sharpness of the new screens is also extraordinary: The pixel pitch of 5 mm and the resolution of over 4K are so far unique for such an outdoor installation in Germany. In the long term, the media façade is also intended to provide an attention-grabbing stage for art and culture from the district. The agency Serious is responsible for the display of content in the areas, the technical operation runs via pilot Screentime and the digital signage content management system Scala. Also worth mentioning is Denmark's first solar powered LED DOOH screen. For a project with North Funen Business and Tourism, four environmentally friendly LED pylons were produced, the primary energy of which is solar energy from integrated solar cells on the back of the pylons. These first solar powered LED screens in Denmark stand out in the existing market with their innovative solution and excellent quality. The energy from the solar cells will be able to cover up to 90% of the consumption of the LED screens.“We find it very exciting to be part of this pilot project. For us, this is a great way to support the green agenda while saving money on ongoing electricity use.North Funen is geographically located in northern Europe, and unfortunately the solar cells on the back of the pylons face north here - actually very unfavorable conditions for the use of solar energy.Nevertheless, due to the high efficiency, we expect energy savings of between 50 and 70 percent,” says Per Oleson, Manager at North Funen Business and Tourism. The solar project in North Funen was just the start of Expromo's sustainability concept. The topic will continue to be promoted, also due to the positive feedback.“We have been testing the use of solar cells in our system for an extended period of time and believe that our innovative and environmentally friendly solutions pave the way for the market. We are constantly trying to optimize LED technology,” explains Michael Reichart. In the cruise ship sector, Expromo recently completed a major project with the Norwegian shipping company Hurtigruten. The newest ships in the fleet, the hybrid expedition ships MS Roald Amundsen and M/S Fridtjof Nansen, have reportedly been fitted with the world's tallest LED screens currently at sea.>> back to overviewThanks to the numerous unusual LED projects and the constant development of new technologies and products, Expromo has developed into one of the leading LED suppliers in Europe, far removed from major marketing campaigns.According to the agenda, the partner network will be further expanded and the issue of sustainability and green signage LED screens will be promoted. We can also expect exciting projects and innovative products in the future.>> back to overviewYour email address will not be
